TeslaMap is available in two versions, Standard and Java. The following table defines the differences between versions.

Both versions can calculate all required parameters of a Tesla coil. The Standard version has been in development longer and is a bit more refined. However the Java version is light-weight, simple and does not require any installation.
Be sure to take the Safety Quiz before building your Tesla coil.
Standard Installation Instructions:
- Download the "TeslaMap57Setup.exe" file (this is a package of all the program files).
- Double click or run the "TeslaMap57Setup.exe" file (this will extract the program files).
- You should see a window pop-up titled "WinRAR self-extracting archive". There will be a box under "Install to" where you can type in a location to extract the program files. I recommend typing in: C:\Program Files\TeslaMap Setup
- Click the "Install" button (this does not actually install the program, the button name is misleading but beyond my control).
- Now navigate to the folder you just typed in (C:\Program Files\TeslaMap Setup).
- When you open that folder you'll see a TeslaMap4 folder, which you can open.
- In the TeslaMap4 folder you'll see a "setup.exe" file. Double click or run the "setup.exe" file.
- Follow the setup program instructions.
- During installation you may be asked to keep or replace files, generally you should keep your existing files. At the end of the installation you may see an error message saying "error registering EXPSRV.DLL". You can safely hit the ignore button.
- If TeslaMap does not run, download and install the
free VB
Runtime files from Microsoft.

This license describes the conditions under which you may use TeslaMap ("the program"). If you are unable or unwilling to accept these conditions in full, then, notwithstanding the conditions in the remainder of this license, you may not use the program at all.
The program is a fully-functional software. The program never expires and may be used for any period of time. The program is free, has no exclusive limitations and does not require registration.
You may not emulate, clone, rent, lease and sell the program. Also, you may not modify, decompile, disassemble, otherwise reverse engineer, or transfer the program, or any subset of the program, except to the extent and for the express purposes authorized by applicable law. Any such unauthorised use shall result in immediate and automatic termination of this license and may result in criminal or civil prosecution.
You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the program executable, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty; keep intact all the notices that refer to this license and to the absence of any warranty; and give any other recipients of the program a copy of this license along with the program. You may not charge a fee for the program, but you may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and to compensate for the cost of the storage medium.
Any use of the program which is illegal under international or local law is forbidden by this license. Any such action is the sole responsibility of the person committing the action.
